INSIDE MY BOOKS Galleries

Rhode Island: A Photographic Portrait : It has been my privilege to explore through my lens America's smallest state with the biggest name (officially it's Rhode Island and Providence Plantations).
I traveled along the country lanes and seaside highways, capturing lighthouses, taverns, churches and colonial homes built when America was new.
I explored lavish Great Gatsby-era palaces overlooking the waters where Ted Turner brought home the America’s Cup.

I met the rising sun from atop the sheer cliffs of Block Island, and the setting sun in an autumn landscape of flaming red and gold maples.
I feasted on lobsters, johnnycakes and steamed clams, and met my first Rhode Island Red.
I witnessed dramatic Narragansett tribal ceremonies and the breathtaking bonfires at WaterFire.

Many of these photos will appear in my upcoming book, Rhode Island: A Photographic Portrait.

Through them, I hope you will taste the crisp apples, juicy blueberries and sweet Rhode Island corn… smell the salt air and the summer flowers…
hear the waves… listen for the whispers of ghosts and the eerie call of foghorns through the mist. ...Karen T. Bartlett

Naples, Florida: A Photographic Portrait

Sea Islands of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida : Join me on a photographic odyssey along the coast of my native Lowcountry, through one of the most seductive chains of barrier islands on earth.
From sophisticated Charleston, South Carolina to romantic Beaufort, to the resort isles of Hilton Head and Kiawah, follow me along the historic Savannah coast to Georgia’s famed Golden Isles and the Marshes of Glynn, and finally to lovely Amelia Island on Florida’s northern coast.

Visit Daufuskie…Jekyll … Sapelo...Cumberland…St. Simons, with their antebellum plantations, palmetto forests, moss-draped oaks and lush golf meccas. See laid-back beach towns like Folly, Tybee, and Edisto, and private island enclaves of the rich and famous. See beyond the lighthouses and forts, shrimp boats and Victorian seaports to the rich legacy of cultures left behind by European aristocrats, West African slaves and the privileged families of America’s Gilded Age. Perhaps through these photographs, you can hear the honeyed Gullah/Geechee voices, taste the sweet juice of summer peaches, and catch the fragrance of wisteria on the sultry air.
